Summer School

O. W. Best offers summer school to help students at risk of failure develop skills and prepare for the next grade. Students attending summer school will study Mathematics and English Language Arts. This year, teachers and students will use the E20/20 computer-learning program during summer school. A teacher will instruct students in each classroom. Students are required to take the classes on campus and will have opportunities to learn via the computer outside of school during the summer. O.W. Best Summer School 2019 Information
 

Description:    The program, pending enrollment, will offer core classes that include 6th, 7th, and 8th grade curriculum in Mathematics and English Language Arts. Enrollment is limited to each student taking two classes. Each class meets for 2-hour sessions. Summer School classes are held at Annapolis High School.

Dates/Time:   The middle school summer school program is scheduled from June 26, 2019 – August 3, 2019, Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. daily. No school will be held on Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4, 2019.

Curriculum:   Teachers will use the E20/20 curriculum program that focuses the grade-level Michigan Standards for Mathematics. For English Language Arts teachers will provide students with lessons to improve reading and writing skills using the Achieve 3000 program.

Attendance: Students are allowed no more than 2 absences in order to pass and remain in the program. Students arriving more than five minutes after his/or her class begins will be marked absent.

Breakfast/Lunch: A light breakfast and lunch will be provided each day of summer school free of charge. Breakfast will begin at 7:30 am. Lunch will begin immediately after school through 12:30.
